Electrical engineering applies principle and theories of electricity, electronics and electromagnetic field theory. Since its inception, it has been sub-divided into many categories considering the diversification of fields and innovation being sprouting everywhere. The most common related types of electrical engineering degrees are as followed.

Power engineering

It is a subfield of electrical engineering that deals with power related issues such as production, transmission, distribution and utilization of power and electricity. Power engineering ensures the safety and protection of power grid stations from any type of hazards.  Power engineers may also work on systems that do not connect to the grid. These systems are called off-grid power systems. For example generation of power by using local resources at a remote place instead of connecting to the grid.

Telecommunication engineering

This type of electrical engineering deals with transmission of information from one place to another via cellular systems. Telecom engineers make sure that information should properly encode, transmit and then decode at the receiver end.  Thier work ranges from basic circuit design to strategic mass developments.

Mechatronics Engineering

Mechatronics engineering a multidisciplinary field; includes a combination of electronic, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, telecommunication, system, and control engineering.

To pursue this degree, you must be good at technical drawing, physics, and math. You must also know the basics of kinematics, hydraulics and fluid dynamics.

Electronics engineering

This type of electrical engineering deals with the design, fabrication, and operation of circuits, electronic devices, and systems. It focuses on microprocessors, semiconductors, diodes, transistors and microcontrollers. Any one with bachelor degree in electrical engineering can acquire master degree in electronics

This four field lies among the main types of electrical engineering.
